Roberdo supported ARMM reform program

COTABATO CITY, Philippines - Muslim local executives are mourning the death of Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.

The acting governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Mujiv Hataman, said Robredo was an active supporter of President Aquino’s reform agenda for ARMM and in fixing region’s problematic political and administrative processes.

“Secretary Robredo shall be mentioned in the history of ARMM as the national government official who was a frequent visitor of ARMM. He came over many times to check on problems about regional governance,” Hataman said.
Robredo last met with local officials in Maguindanao, a component-province of ARMM, in Kidawapan City more than a week ago for a dialogue on security problems in conflict-stricken towns in the province.

“Robredo’s role in the pursuit of our reforms agenda in the ARMM is beyond personal reckoning,” Hataman said.
Hataman said Robredo had kept his communication lines open to ARMM leadership, getting updates on issues and concerns besetting the region.

“He was very approachable and brotherly,” Hataman said.
